Default 92 Civic Overheating

Alrighty so,

just got my motor swap done on my civic. took out the d15 swapped it for a built d16z6
everything is fine, a few minor problems here and there but now my temp gauge goes to the top after about 5 minutes of running my car. but if i let it sit for awhile it will cool back down and go back up 2 minutes later when i start driving again.

Ive checked several things such as coolant: good
oil:good
however, the radiator cap is not even hot to the thouch. and the hoses are not pressurized at all

i dont believe the fan is kicking on either
anyone got any ideas?

change your thermostat. its like 10 bucks and that's prob the problem, it's stuck closed, inhibiting coolant circulation, and causing your car to overheat.

as far as the fan goes, it may need to be replaced or maybe just the coolant fan relay. mine went out so now i just have it hooked up to a switch that I turn on.

ok i thought it was the thermostat too...would that affect why the fan wouldnt kick on if its not the relay?

Make sure that all your radiator lines are tight the slightest air leak will make you overheat. i learned on my b18 turbo. The hard way

if you saw coolant coming from your timing cover you might want to check your head gasket did you use the same one? i hope not and i would also make sure you dont have a bum (cracked) head cause that would do it in a heartbeat too

It's probably the water pump. My Del Sol was doing the same exact thing and that was the problem.
