Default Help me diagnose this.

Ok so my car is having problems. I own a 2000 civic si. Lately my car has been having problems. Here is the list of issues.

whenever my CEL comes on these things start happening; but only when my light turns on. like the other day the light cut on after being off for a long time. As soon as it cut on my problems started up again. My idle starts to fluctuate. When im driving if i let off the accelerator my car rocks badly. The car also backfires badly while this going on. Right when i shift i can hear a backfire. I seem to lose a lot of power also. According the CEL it says its the IACV. I have cleaned it before that seemed to work now this is happeneing again. But from what i've heard it may not be iacv, it could be spark plug/ spark plug wires.

Recently my friend and i took off the cruise control. I am not sure if this caused this or not. Because there is now a sensor not connected/ the one used for the cruise control. Im not sure if that had anything to do with it.

What do you guys think it could be? Any help would appreciated.

I'm running a B16A2 ('99 Si) in my HX - and the cruise is disconnected. I don't get any CELs, so you can probably cross that off your list.

I digress...

One of my brothers owns a VW shop, and he says the #1 problem he sees with modern VWs is the IACV valve, i.e. the valve that opens and closes allowing more or less air into the intake manifold, e.g. the Idle Air Control Valve. Most of the time, simply replacing the IACV is all they have to do to solve the problems you're experiencing.

AFAIK it's a common problem with ALL electronically fuel-injected cars, sooo...

If your throwing a IACV code, I'd believe it and replace the valve - but that's just me!

I agree with his answer... Replace the iacv and it will most likely fix the promblem!

Yes, you might want to replace that iacv. Sometimes they can cause your car to sound like it has a 2-step rev limiter if its that bad. So thats probably your problem.

hmm.

the iacv really only affects the idle, not anothing above it.

are you sure iacv is the only code youre throwing?

the only thing it said was that the i"ac circuit condition or idle speed higher/lower than expected". that was the definition.

thats what i was thinking too. i'm not sure what i should do now.

keep the posts coming!!

you need to manually pull the codes, dont use a scanner at the dlc.
