Default cam gear question

hey im wondering how this works, i just got off the phone with JHPusa and the guy there couldnt understand what i was trying to say. the key on the stock cam gear lines up with the notch on the camshaft. but the skunk2 cam gear has a notch in it and it does not come with an alignment key. Im not sure how this is gonna work. Any one have any experience?

you use the key from your original stock cam gears. Is that what you are asking?

the key is not removable on the stock cam gear. It's a JDM D15b (z6 head) both cam gears (i had a spare) have a key stuck to them.

Ive seen them both ways, removable keys and not. I never paid attention to which came from what engine.

I may have one sitting in the garage. If not, just head to a junkyard and pull one from any honda engine - should fit fine.

edit**
Nope, it was a crank key I was remembering. Sorry.

thanks dude, you're referring to the woodruff key. i just ordered one from ROCKauto maybe itll fit, im gonna be effin pissed if this thing gets here and i have no way of making sure it doesn't slip... a little while ago i fabbed a key with a screwdriver tip, but this isn't **** i really wanna "fab up", i mean cam timing is pretty damn important to a healthy engine.

That key is part number 90741-657-000. My honda dealer might have one for 2.70 otherwise it's 11.00 (includes shipping) from hondapartsunlimited.

I hope this can help someone in the future if you have this problem.
