Default Should I Attempt to Get Warrenty Repair on Bad Synchro?

On the 2 - 3 shift I get grinding above 7000 RPM. It's consistent, and occurs everytime (unless I feather the clutch on the shift). No problems on any other gears/synchros.

So should I wait for it to get worse to ask for warrenty work or should I attempt now? I am at 18K miles, ~15 months old car.

very common problem, they should do it under warrenty... next thing will be 5th gear grinding... if it takes that long to get it fixed... thats what my tranny is doing.. should get it fixed within the next week..

I've been hearing people with bad synchro...how can you tell if you have bad synchro? what caused it to go bad? is it a manufacture defects?

High RPM grinding is a symtom of bad synchro's. My ITR has this problem as well. At low RPm everything works fine but up high (7000 rpm and above), it grinds.

They'll just tell you it was never meant to be revved that high so it must be your fault.

Acura warrany covers nothing on a Type R. It's fast so therefore you must abuse it.

Had my tranny apart last week. After 19k hard miles (car is not a daily driver), synchros looked like new - no worn edges.

Your dealer may cover the syncros under warranty, but they shouldn't.

Worn synchros on a Type-R are caused by poor shifting technique.

Um, I don't know if I agree with that but it's your opinion.

Sorry, but it's true.

Same thing goes for all b series trannies.

EDIT: I'm talking about syncros going bad early.

Damn..my 3rd gear synchro is out, too on my R tranny...when i shift above 5,000rpm it grinds like a ****...and when racing.i gotta force the shifter into 3rd with a loud crunch!

Question is....how much will it cost to get fixed??? I mean the labor..that's what I'm worried about...my stuff's not covered under warranty....so can you tell me how much it will cost to get the synchro fixed as far as LABOR GOES....thanks.

to save on labor, i recommend dropping the tranny yourself and take the tranny to get the synchro's replaced
