I Just Purchased a EJ1...Need some simple answers
Hey H-T how's it going? I feel stupid about asking this but i want to know if you will hear when vtec kicks in, in a sohc vtec motor like in a DOHC vtec.... also i wanted to ask what suspension you would recommend for me?...Any input would be appreciated. Thanks
You will be able to hear a crossover with intake and exhaust. Not as loud as a DOHC VTEC though.
What type of driving will you be doing?

You should be able to hear it fine. It's more audible without the stock airbox/intake.
Suspension is such a broad question. Depends on a lot of things, what main driving purpose is, budget, shocks/springs/coilovers/chassis upgrades? Go look and search in suspension forum.

friend of mines made a super short intake (filter right at the intake manifold) in a z6, and VTEC sounded real loud, just like a B16.
on the other hand the car was really slow.. only noise

oh alright just wanted to know..... umm as for driving pretty much just street daily driving...im going to keep the car simple just drop it, wheels, lip kit, and carbon fiber accessories....later on i'll start with engine mods. i just want a good looking DD ...i was thinking of either getting Skunk2 Pro Series Full Coilover or Omni Power Street Kit?
When I got my first Honda, a SOHC Vtech Civic EX, it was difficult for me to notice the vtec at first. Then after putting on the basic bolt-ons (I/H/E), I noticed the sound change better. With a DOHC though, the sound is more like sex compared to a SOHC.

The Skunk2 Pro Series is a great coilover, however it is pricey for what you are looking for.
I would suggest a Koni/GC setup, you cannot go wrong w/ daily driving
There's really no need to go with anything super pricey unless you just want baller status

vtec on a single cam only happens on the intake side...so adding an intake will make the crossover louder while adding an exhaust will drown it out.
i have skunk2 proseries on my coupe and imo theyre junk

This really just depends what YOU want the suspension to be used for. If you are just looking for a good quality suspension setup, I would say to go with a GC/Koni setup...great price, and high quality ride for daily driving.
