ITs VTEC no H NO -
Now,
It doesnt sound like a DOHC Vtec, because its not a DOHC Vtec, it sound EXACTLY like what a SOHC Vtec sounds like.
DOHC VTEC'shave the noticeable change in sound at the point of crossover. SOHC's and DOHC i-Vtec's for the most part dont.

Exactly..... the crossover is much quieter on the SPHC and i-Vtec than the DOHC vtec

Wrong. There is a d17a1 non-VTEC, d17a2 VTEC, and a d17a6 VTEC-E. The d17a6 is found in the HX models. That is the only 7th gen that uses VTEC-E.

The VTEC kick-in for a D17 is at 2700rpms. It's hard to hear much of anything that low in the rpm range.
