loose camshaft key, can i epoxy it in?
So i had broken the key between the camshaft and the campully, i purchase a new one an it just a bit loose. the engine has 238K on it, 97 accord 2.2.
Is this normal...
I was thinking of expoying it in. I have some plumming expoxy that can take the heat. That or using a shim or two. I just think with it loose it will go bad faster, if its solid...may have a longer life.
Anyone see a loose/sloppy key before?
Thanks

as long as the key prevents the pulley and the camshaft from spinning seperately, then it doesn't really matter. Just put on the pulley and tighten it down.
it broke because some cheeseball who did the timing belt didnt put the bolt that holds it in back on. It worked it's way half out and then sheered...
I just dont want it to break again if there is play in it.
or after that many miles should there be play in it?

Is the keyway on the camshaft or gear galled up from breaking the first key? If so, that will cause it to be sloppy. It really shouldn't be sloppy though.
Why did the first key break anyway???
