I know the compression is higher in the jdm h22 but is that all?

biggest difference: on the jdm one, there's no "1" next to the "h22a" on the stamp

I think that has more to do with the year of manufacture, IIRC. I believe 92-95 blocks were closed deck, and 96+ were open. Could be wrong.

no theyre both closed deck, the only difference is slightly more aggressive n/a cams, .5 higher compression, i have boosted and blown both, they both last just as long, but i would rather boost the usdm, because of the lower compression and less agressive cam.

97 and up blocks are open deck, but you cant get a jdm h22a 97 and up, they re all 92-95 which is closed deck, either way on a stock block h22 the deck configuration doesnt matter its' the ringlands that are the weak point.

well you could go to any one of the many engine distributors and look for a type-s engine, they're all obd2. also, if you need it, I can get it. My roommate's dad owns Japan Direct motorsports here in raleigh, nc, he could get a regular old obd2 h22 if you really wanted it http://www.usedengine.com

the type s is a whole other story, anyway the original post said jdm h22a1 and a1 is obd1 and closed deck, and that site you listed is has nothing about 0bd2 h22's. i am sure you can get one if its your friends dads company, beacuse i have seen 99 prelude front clips for sale but never a regular non type s obd2 h22 engine swap.

man, this thread has become a bitch fest
