Default help car started smoking after turbo

i pieced together a kit not too long ago. everything is fine, no check engine. however i started noticing smoke coming out of my tail pipe the other day when i stopped at a light. the car does not smoke on startup or even if i let it sit till its running warm. it also does not smoke while i'm driving. it only smoke sometimes when i stop at a light, and when i see the smoke all i need to do is give it a little gas and the smoke will go away. does anyone know what is going on?

sounds like an oil line issue.

is the turbo clocked with the feed straight up?

how is the oil return? a nice slope with no tight bends?

do you have an oil restrictor on the oil inlet of the turbo?

those are the most common, worst case scenario your turbo would need new seals.

if you fix all of that and still get smoking look into pcv/catchcan stuff.

im running a borg warner with a SPA top mount so the oil feed like is slightly slanted.

oil return is fine.

i dont have an oil restricter.

im not running a catch can or pvc valve. maybe its that. thank you

id look into a resitrictor as well, even with the warm idle oil psi sometimes they smoke.

but yeah see what works.

Im in for this, I have a SPA top mount w a Garrett 60-1.. I just sent my turbo off to get rebuilt by precision and its still giving me a slight puff of smoke after I beat it up then roll to a stop.

I am running 2 smaller lines for ventilation. One from the top of the black oem can off the back of the block and one from the oem valve cover port both to a vented can.

I am clocked within in 15 degrees of strait up and down.

Block is freshly built with 7k miles on it 9:1 81mm.

Head is stock w 150k

Kinda pisses me off

edit: no oil restrictior.. 3an / 10an fast turbo lines.
