help in trying to Identify exact model of the car + engine.
Hey guys , i have a 98 civic hatch with a B16A2 swap. (originaly was 1.4)
as i know the engine is obd-1.
i'm not satisfied wth the harness work (iac not working well, 2 ground cables to the vss and lots more.)
i want to rewire everything including the inside harness.
so i want to buy a new whole harness, engine + inside the car.
but i'm not sure what i'm supposd to do , because i know that the engine is obd-1
and the car , i think obd-2(?) (pic below has the info of the car + engine)
btw , p30 ecu.
any help will be great!

thats part of the mess:
If you had a d14a4 in there to begin with, I wouldn't even worry about what model the car is. Find another chassis that has the same options or options you're looking for. Obviously, you want a harness for a vtec motor. If you have an obd1 distributor and ecu, you can get a harness from a bunch of models and have little or no wiring left to do.
the motor is out of a 2000 usdm civic si. and I know you got a pic of the badge but a pic of the vin on the dash would better help identify or if you dont want to post that then use that to help figure it out cause those badges can be bought and installed so they are next to useless.
that was super fast...
thnx for the reply ,
the thing is i want to replace all the wiring in the car, engine + inside.
i want to leave it obd1 , but what wiring i need to get for the inside of the car?
i need to find a harness thats fits my chasis (96-98 hatch) ?
and matching the chasis harness to the engine harness is not a big deal , right?
thnx in advance

i dont think i have one , i'm from israel , so it might be different here...

Thats gonna be absolute hell. Why not just find another chassis? My ECU harness is way more hacked up than that and works fine, just fix the problems one by one.

already did it once , and then the car got stolen the day i brought it home :\
i just think it will be the best... to much cables running there with the same color.

car = OBD2 (VIN indicates 1998 EDM with D14A4)
engine = OBD2 USDM (B16A2 = 99-00 SI)
trans = 2000 GSR USDM
get a chassis harness from a 96-98 hatch
Personally I'd wire everything up to be OBD2, then use an OBD2 to OBD1 conversion harness.

hey , thnx for the detailing , but the friend i bought the car from ,
said its obd1 (?)
how do you guys know its an OBD2 engine?
i'm really confused now , and its really important to know this,
because i'll get all my parts from abroad (nothing here in israel
)
so my chassis harness is def an obd2, and engine obd2 as well?
i'm lost , as i know p30 = obd1
any difference between obd1 engine harness and obd2 engine harness?
in connectors or anything?
thnx alot again guys for the help!

B16A2 code on engine - engine code from the 99-00 Civic SI.
99-00 Civic Si = OBD2b.
the harness looks like it was "converted" to OBD1. That's not as difficult as it sounds, but unless it's done carefully and neatly you end up with the mess that it looks like you have.
P30's did come in OBD2a versions. Tell me the numbers after the "37820-P30-" on the label and I should be able to tell you what it is.
distributor, injectors and alternator are the three that I remember being different. But there is no reason to worry about that stuff. An OBD2 harness can be run via OBD1 ECU with no problems.
