Keep Getting CEL P0134....
I have an '04 type-s and my CEL came on about 1k miles ago. Took it to the shop and they told me it pulled a P0134. They couldn't find anything wrong (of course) and just reset it. They said these things can come on for various reasons. All was good for 1k miles and then...
...fast forward to last night and the CEL comes on again. I'm going to get a code reader to see if it's pulling the same code. Common sense tells me that if there was a constant problem (compression, exhaust leak) the light would've come on again right after they reset it. Why 1k miles later?
The car is under warranty which makes me wonder if they're just going to reset it and wait out the expiration so they aren't obligated to fix it for free once the **** hits the fan.
Any ideas what may be wrong and what I can check myself before taking it to the shop again? I'm 3 weeks out before my warranty expires too. The car runs fine otherwise. Gas mileage is the same...feels and sounds the same.

i came up with this same code. i need to know what it means and where the sesor is so i can take care of it. i have heard that it is the a/f sensor but still dont know where that is. any help will be nice.
Its your 02 sensor, the first/primary one, its on the catalytic converter. That code means, and I'll quote from the service manual:
" DTC P0134: A/F Sensor(Sensor 1) No Activity Detected.
1. Check the installation of the A/F sensor(sensor 1).
Is it slacked from the exhaust pipe?
YES- Reinstall the A/F sensor
NO- Go to step 2
2. Reset the ECM
3. Start the engine. Hold the engine speeed at 3,000 rpm with no load(in neutral) until the radiator fan comes on, then let it idle for 2 minutes.
Is DTC P0134 indicated?
YES - Replace A/F sensor
NO - Intermittent failure, system is OK at this time. Check for poor connections or loose terminals at the A/F sensor and the ECM."

I agree, just replace the sensor. Had the same code popping up in my Ep. It went on and off for several months and gradually got worse. I picked up the RSX one for under $100 and the "special tool" from Auto Zone for $10. The hardest part was jacking up the car. Just do it, your gas mileage will thank you.
P.S. I don't know how the RSX sensor is mounted in the Cat, but the tool I bought was the 90 degree one...if that makes sense.

It is the primary o2 sensor. I have mine come on and all all the time, granted I have a race header with the defouler trick. And when I go for emissions, I just clear the code. Passes no problem.
Hi there,
My girl's 05 civic keeps pulling that code p0134 and after replacing O2 sensors upstream and downstream and resetting the ECU the CEL keeps coming back on. I've checked fuses (visually) and they all seem ok. Now the O2 sensors are aftermarket and right now I'm leaning toward buying a new one from the dealer at a much higher price of course - Boo! So before I spend the cash I wanted to do a little research first. I'm not a Honda driver,I'm more of a German car guy but I gotta say that this CEL bothers me a great deal!!
So please advise.
