HOW TO: Fix Parking Lot Scuffs
Well some DONK hit my girl friends car in an ikea parking lot on the weekend.
And working in a Toyota plant paint booth all day i have a bit of experience in dealing with this.
Also save you a few bucks at the body shop
So i thought i would write a how to up!
TOOLS NEEDED:
Compressor (or electric buffer)
3M Polisher

3M FINESSE POLISH - EXTRA FINE

3M WOOL PADS

3M Orange Waffle Sponge

2000 GRIT WETSAND PAPER

Acetone
WRITE UP
This is what im starting with.

From the idiot that hit the car in the parking lot. Its located on the rear 1/4 which is steel. If it was the rear bumper it might not have been salagable since plastic gouges alot easier
1)Whipe the area down good with your acetone on a rag and get rid of all the paint from the other vehicle and dirt
2)Take a block sander with your 2000 grit and wet it in some water or put water on the area you would like to fix
3)Start sanding the area lightly in a circle motion keeping the paper wet. MAKE SURE YOU DO NOT HAVE ANY DEBRIS ON YOUR PAPER OR IT WILL SCRATCH THE CLEAR COAT!
4) Make sure you do not sand too much and go threw the clear coat or you will have to recoat the area. Sand in small steps rather then big ones
5)Put the polish on the wool pad on your buffer and buff the area which you sanded.
( Do not press on the buffer let it do its own thing, pressure is not needed)
6)Keep Poling the area until all haze is gone. Make sure you look at the area from meny areas
7)If your using a dark colour such as black or a monocolour(usually the light red colour) (monocolour=no clear coat) then your probably going to have to use a foam pad to get rid of the haze. Put some polish on the pad and buff away until the haze is gone
The Final Product

As you can see there is still a small dent and paint chip there.
Hopefully soon i can cover on how to do small dent repairs and flash chipped area
Hopefully i saved you a few bucks!
thanks for your time
