waste gate dump valve always open?
i recently put a turbo system back together and had an issue that id like some help with. it has a tial wastegate that has a plumbed dump tube to the bottom of the block. when i started to drive the car i noticed that the exhaust note was loud and i found that was because there was exhaust coming out of my dump tube. thats not always supposed to be open, correct? what could i have possibly hooked up wrong to have this happen?
please, bare with my inexperience here. i took the wastegate off of the manifold and removed the dump valve tube when it was in working order. i simply bolted the wastegate back on and reinstalled the dump valve tube and now i have this. when a wastegate is uninstalled are you required to install a valve seat when you reinstall it?
The valve seat looks like this:

It goes in the bottom of the wastegate and sits on the mounting surface of the manifold. It can sometimes fall out when removing a wastegate from the manifold. Doublecheck that yours is still there.

ah, so in other words the valve seat is what seals the wastegate to the mounting flange...got it
appreciate the help
