ECU QUESTION
Been a LONG time since I posted. The 1994 Accord still runs 100%, still getting ready to build the engine this summer or fall, the last of the restoration/buildup.
My "Freeway Crusier" puked, a 2001 Avalon. I diagnosed the ECU as bad. Around $975 for a "rebuild", $1150 for a NEW Toyota unit. I also researched having it rebuilt by a comapany that does this for $250, with a LIFETIME warranty. The truth is the car is MINT and doesn't warrant a junkyard part.
Alright, Hondaheads. Any of you have experience with the "rebuilds" vs the "new"? The warrantees are about the same-12 months. Input from experience here would be greatly appreciated.
As for getting it REBUILT- the $$$$ is tempting, but not if the ECU is not rebuilt/programmed right. Any experience with this out there?
I posted here because I have found many Honda owners have some very older cars still running, I thought some would have been through this before. I wouldn't even have bothered to ask except- $1000!!! Damned! And I DID shop the net- parts for Toyotas (especially the Avalon) do not come cheap!
I'll cough up the $1000 if I need to, the car is pristine, just wanted to know if anyone had any experience here. As always, later. Wrenchy
