I have a 1991 Integra i put a 99 gsr motor in it with a skunk 2 intake manifold no orhter mods. the vtec worked about a month ago untill my speedo cable broke now i fixed it and it does not work. i tried everything, oil pressure, oil change, changed solenoid, i even hot wired a 12volt signal to the solenoid and it only clicks when the car is turned off, but when the car is on it does nothing at all.

Any ideas why the solenoid dont click while car is running?

 

bump. i have the same problem. changing my oil tomorrow and we'll see what happens

 

Might your ECU be to blame? maybe it isn't sending the signal to the solenoid.

 

what ecu u running? if i were u i would get a chipped p28 or just a stock p28 for ur vtec...ur ecu might of took a crap on vtec ..

 

if your knock sensor took a **** that could be it too
if they dont work your vtakk wont work sometimes

 

it cant be knock sensor mine was broken off still worked only thing with mine was vtec solinoid filter was cloged.

 

if you have a Vtec computer... your check engine light would be on...
i had the same problem... is was a wire that had gotten lose from the pin in the ecu...
make sure you check for continuity, specially if you ran wires directly...

 

no its not my computer i hooked the solenoid to a 12volt switch im bypassing the computer all the way so it should engage no matter what but it doesnt. only when the car is off the solenoid clicks when i turn the switch on. but while its running it does nothing.
