Default 94-99 GS-R owners...help

Ok so I know the 94-99 GS-R has a different header/cat/exhaust combination. The shorter header, double 02 bung cat, and longer exhaust B-pipe.

Has anyone switched over any (or all) of the three to aftermarket stuff made to fit a 94-01 LS/RS/GS, or Type R, or 99-01 GSR?

It just seems like a pain in the *** to stick with direct fit aftermarket parts for a 94-99 GSR since they are the odd man out of the DC2 Integras.

I basically want to know if I get a header, cat/test pipe, and exhaust made to fit on the other cars, will it still line up on my GS-R?

Yes, if you get an entire exhaust from a different 94-01 integra, it will bolt up.

However, since you are in Cali, I should point out that you won't technically be smog legal afterwards. Changing the cat within 11 years of production is illegal, as is moving the location, which a different length header will do.

It won't bolt up directly. The header will fit if it's for a b series engine although it won't be tuned to optimal gains on gsr engine. The exhaust on the other hand will need to be cut. Any reputable muffler shop should be able to modify it to fit appropriately.

I don't know if you understand what I'm saying. The Header, Cat, and Exhaust would all be for the other cars. So the header will be longer, and exhaust will be shorter. I'm pretty sure no cutting should have to occur if they are all for say...a 2001 LS

That is a direct bolt-on.

Will it line up with the exhaust hangers?

Yes. They did not change the chassis to accomodate an exhaust on the GSR.

Yeah the hangers are in the same spot, the exhaust itself has the same hangars too, just a shorter B-pipe for the 94-99 GS-R. I ordered a header/test pipe/exhaust for a 2000 GS-R last night. I will post up the results when I go for the install.

What setup did you go with? And make sure your test pipe has an O2 bung. You're gonna need some spark plug non-foulers as a spacer to not get a check engine light as well.

What are spark plug non-foulers?

I got a DC sports 4-2-1 one piece, invidia test pipe, and Apexi WS2

All three are supposed to be direct-fit for a 2000 GS-R which will be different than my 98 GS-R stuff but should work fine.

Only problem is that the test pipe is unavailable...I'm gonna have to scramble to find one before my other stuff comes in.

Just have your local exhaust shop make one. A "test pipe" is simply a pipe with a hole drilled and a nut welded on to accommodate the O2 sensor.

However, running cat-less makes baby jesus and mother nature cry. A good high flow cat isn't that restrictive, and will keep your car from smelling like gas and polluting (as much).

Where did you see that changing the catalytic converter within 11 years isn't smog legal? I'm just wondering because that seems like you're saying it's not smog legal to upgrade to a high flow cat and that it's just as illegal as a test pipe.

I know what a test pipe is, what is a non-fouler?

Will I get a CEL when my 02 sensor is plugged into the test pipe?
