Default thermostat open?

picked up a new gsr.....car seems to run really really cool...dricvng on freeway yesterday for about 40 mins at 80-90 and the temp was only at a quarter

also after oil change i went to test drive it and it was up to 25% but then when i started moving or actually gunned it, the temp dropped...

I think my thermostat is probably faulty, stuck open

does anyone know how much mpg I will lose from this?

pro's and cons of it?

thanks

Both my gsr's never get about 1/4 on the temp gauge. While driving they are at about 1/8th, at a stop or in traffic it will barely creep up to 1/4 on a hot day w/ the a/c on.

I had the same problem. My thermostat was stuck open and the car never got to operating temp. Changed the thermostat and the car temp went up fine (a little more than quarter). Not so sure about any pros for having a faulty thermo, but I would guess that the car would not run as strong because the engine never reaches operating temp.
