Default EW BLOCK W/ D16A1 HEAD

Theoretically, it is possible to put a D16 head on a stock EW block. I have never seen such a beast and I do not know if there is any material available on making this monster work.

http://www.norcalcrx.org/library/1gswaps.shtml

this is the site i was checking out and i came across this idea has anynone done this before cause my friend and i are going to pull a D16a1 motor out in the next couple days and need some info on this.

IVe never done it but all you need is a 86-87 D16A1 head, and gasket. Bolt it on and pop in a 86-87 Teg ECU.

Ah no, it is not that easy.

Honda never intended the D16 head to go on the EW block so there are lot of issues you will need to resolve. Among them, are some passages that do not line up and taking the slack out of the timing belt. Do a search on Redpepper for the details.

So yes, it can be done... but why woud you bother? The EW head is not a terrible design, all it needs is a lot more induction (which is a function of the stuff bolted to the intake side of the head). With the stock Ignition/ECU/Injectors, a simple P&P, a better cam and the biggest TB I could find, my EW is making 30% more power than stock.
