So the car is a 89 Civic Si running a 91 Si ECU. The car has the Fields Vtec controller only hooked to activate vtec on a D16Z6 head, fuel isn't wired up to the MAP sensor. Every now and then, the car will stall while coming to a stop or idling. I will go to restart it and it will fire up and then sputter and stall again. Next, I will try to restart it again and it will just turn over. I will try and try but it won't start. Just turning over. Then after maybe a minute of trying numerous times to start, it will fire up with me giving it some gas and rev up a few thousand rpms and then bogg down and stall again. Then I will try some more to start it, but the motor just turns over with no hint of starting. Eventually it will start up and be fine. Kinda of a strange issue. ECU isn't flashing any codes either.

Could it be a fuel pump since there aren't any codes? I'm not sure where to start here.

Any help would be appreciated.

I had this issue with a 89 dx crx. Ended up being the cellinoid, something like an mid 90's integra one was in there. Strange problem I hated it lol. Find an entire starter in a pickurpart or just a cellinoid and see if that's ur problem
