Default need to get an opinion straight...

so idk why, one night me and my buddies were talking about boostin cars and such.i couldn't remember all of what they said so i'll ask the questions

1)my friends said you can take the upper exhaust manifold of a SOHC civic and use it as a turbo manifold...(stick a DSM turbo on there) as long as bolt patterns match up.

2)you can take the turbo manifold from a dsm and put it on a sohc cam.

i'm confused is this even possible?
flame me all you want but i find it hard to believe and the same time, its reasonable.
please help one of the buddies that was with me that night is next to me

mmm yeah my buddy used to do this a long time ago. i think he used the HF manifold off a CRX i believe but im not 100% sure. it works but it just looks really ghetto. and im not 100% sure if all 4 bolts align on the turbo. correct me if im wrong.

Yup, it's the "HF" manifold. It's found on the HF CRX, but also on the '88-'91 STD Civic hatchback, as well as the '92-'95 Civic CX & VX models. The design is pretty good, because the cat is bolted straight on to the manifold, and pretty high on it too. Some of the '96-'00 Civics have manifolds with the cats attached as well, but they are attached pretty low and would place the turbo in a bad spot. Here's what the bottom side of the manifold looks like:

But, the turbo doesn't bolt right to the manifold, you need some sort of adapter plate to mate them together.

And no, a DSM manifold will not work with a sohc civic engine. I have seen the manifolds modified (botl holes and such drilled) to fit an F-series Honda engine though.

man that sounds ridonculous... even if it looks ghetto..does it work good? or would a person expect the manifold or motor to blow?
