No! If it rains alot where you live just get a good short ram and stick a K&N filter on it and thats the best you can do. CAI isnt much better anyway. Not enuf to be worth hydrolocking your motor anyway.

You can buy a snorkle. But yeah a CAI in the wheel well isnt a great idea.

Hey man,

I live in the Catskill Region of NY, and then when I go back to college (off Summer) I'll be back in Rochester, and I go down to the city quite often. So I think it's safe to say I pretty much make my way all over NY, not sure exactly where you are, but you get the point.

In any event, I've seen a few hydrolocks, but they're sure as **** not frequent. Just don't hit any major puddles and u'll be fine.

Get one with a snorkle too.

Good luck.

I live in sunny florida, it rains all the damn time, and I drive through oceans of puddles. I have an AEM CAI, and I have never sucked water. AEM tested their intakes, and to suck any water into the engine the filter has to be completely underwater. Thats about a 2.5ft puddle.

It's pretty hard to hydrolock an engine. You'll have to completely submerge the filter and have the throttle open a decent amount.

i did it...
it wasn't that hard...
infact it was easy...
and it wasn't 2+feet of water

why the hell would you want to risk your motor for only 1-2 hp?
save the money or spend it on a turbo part

How high was the water level? Throttle position? Is your car lowered? Do you have fender liners?

Do you have proof it hydrolocked? Did you disassemble the heads and find water in your pistons with cracked rods/piston domes? Or did your engine just blow up and you decided to blame your CAI for hydrolocking it?

You say you're not a n00b, but you didn't answer my question at all. I'm assuming you didn't take your engine apart and just decided to blame water without any evidence.

Was it so hard to say you pulled the engine apart? Why did I have to choke it out of you over 3 posts? I don't care about your "resume" or "who" you are, you shouldn't be offended by a simple question.
