expanison valve causing air condition to turn to warm air?
carried my 98 integra to a honda service dept. they stated i needed a new expanison valve. air blows cool for 45 min and then blows warm. only does this every once in a while ... expanison valve $300.00 plus ... freon 150 one side 10 on the other. has anybody had this problem ?
no...sounds like you have a leak somewhere in the lines...go to your local Advance autoparts and get a can of r134 freon for like $30...make sure its the Interdynamics brand in the tall blue can, its got lube and rubber gasket sealer already in it...ands its pretty dummy proof...it only fits on the lowside hose...if it still leaks after that then replace the expansion valve (orfice tube)...at my work there like $35 if you do it yourself. while your at it replace the drier...hope it helps.
Question, if i had a leak the car would not get cold every day right ?
the car blows cold most of the time. it only goes warm after about a hour drive time. thanks for your help.

the answer ti this is, right that is true it woundnt be cold. thing is the expansion valve is good or bad. no in between...im stumped.
i posted on ti to your question the txv (expansion valve) will either work or fail it uses it own refrigerant press to open or close the valve based on the temp of the suction line if it fails it will fail to a closed position usually about 10% of full flow so in a since it will still work just not well, it sounds like your coil is freezing up or your low press cut out is shutting your compressor off either way it could be the valve or it could be ref or it could be the low press cut out any way get a second opinion and go from there. i hope this all helps if not pm me at ti ill be glad to help in any way Wes
