P06 ECU in a 95EX with VTEC
Well I searched for two days and couldnt find what I was looking for. Well Like the title says, I have a 95ex civic coupe with the SOHC VTEC, but I dont have the P28 ECU. I have a P06, the guy I bought the car from swapped them out and never told me. Now my car doesnt engage into vtec, I was told I could just manually wire vtec to a switch, but I dont know how about doing that. Any Ideas? And is it worth it, or should I just get a P28 ECU? And also, how would a P72 ECU do in my car?
Get a P28... I have a P06 in my h22 but its tuned w/a lot of modifications done to it... I have my vtec wired to a switch its easy just run a power from the power wire to a 12V constant source and add a ground to some kind of standard switch! Works like a charm lol.. Oh and I tried my P06 in my buddy's 95 EX and it wouldnt go past 2 grand, and it was like it was boucing rev limiter like it wasnt looking for the map sensor it was very odd
Where would the power wire to the vtec be located? I'm new to the Honda world, I was a big DSM guy, we didnt have vtec in those. Haha
Ill sell you my P08 Ecu for 150 shipped. Slightly more aggressive than the P28. You have a 4 wire O2 sensor so it will work great.

A P28 can be had for less.
wiring a RPM switch to turn on the VTEC solenoid will likely be loosing power, maybe even damage the engine. Without the ECU injecting more fuel and changing the ignition curve things could very well go wrong quickly.
You could also send you P06 out and have the VTEC control parts added and chip the ECU with the stock P28 maps.
IMO, pick up a P28 and be done with it.

Yeah Ill probably have to do that, Just iritated because I just bought this car and already changed the suspension, then had to cut the old lower control arms out so I had to purchase new ones. And like the cheapest P28 I can find is around $100. Will have the P06 damage my car in anyway?
hehe that's messed up.I would say just buy the P28 and be good with it.I have the P06 in my 99 si fully tuned for my motor.I have seen a P28 ecu on craigslist for about $80 dollars.OR you could have the ecu re-mapped for the motor but it would cost more to do it that way then to just buy the p28.I would not mess with the wirring unless you know what you are doing, might mess it up even more nad have a bigger cost than just the ECU.

welcome to the club. I picked up a 93 EX, with a P06 in it. The girl that had it had no clue it was switched.
The car will be fine on a P06. Less top end, less power, but A/Fs and ignition should be fine as long as you stay in the low cam setting.
