Default speedometer/gauge cluster help

Everything in my cluster works fine but my MPH wouldnt work at all. it worked last month for like an hour and it stopped again. I tried unplugging the VSS and plugging it back in but did not work. I also tried to put on a new cluster and still the same problem. What can be my problem? Any help is appreciated. oh yeah i got a 93 hb with GSR motor

maybe check any wiring and see if there is any shorts, or check any fuses to see if any are blown?

you could have a faulty speed sensor.. the gear on the bottom of the sensor could be worn.. or have fallen off.. might be a wiring problem.. see if you have power to one of the 3 wires to the sensor.. check for ground at one of them as well.. you could always check for continuity between the sensor and the gauge cluster or ecu.

Usually, if the check engine light is not showing a code, you probably have a problem with speedo unit in cluster or wiring.
I had the same problem, it was the speedo unit. I changed out the pc board and gear driven motor on back of speedo with a used unit to keep my mileage same. It's not too hard if you watch what you are doing.
Be sure to take screw out behind emergency flasher unit before taking out cluster surround.
