Shift boot looks stupid
I just put on a Skunk2 shift ****. Now it looks like my shift boot is like halfway down the shifter. There's too much space between the bottom of the **** and the plastic ring on the boot. The plastic ring is also cracked. The boot isn't propperly attatched to the plastic square on the center console either, it's weird. Any help?
A trick to make the boot stay up is to use a zip tie and put the zip tie on the shifter itself. Not too sure what you mean by it's not properly attached to the shifter console.

ok guys i saw this a loooooooooooong time ago, or i thought about it....one of the two, take a good o'l 20oz coke bottle cap, cut a + right in the middle of it, place it under your shiftboot at desired height. Done easy free fix...assuming u can find a coke cap layin around somewhere.

A coke cap is hard plastic, it would slide down. Bad idea.
Better off using a tight fitting o-ring, or a rubber grommet, and a little super glue to to make a "stop" ring at the desired height.

Not the best idea, but I've also seen people use round and round and round with electrical tape until it builds up far enough to stop the boot from slipping over it, but after time I've found that it heats up and makes a sticky mess around the top of the shift boot.

i've seen that too. if you're really that worried about your boot just get another one, that plastic ring that you say is broken is what's going to keep the boot from sliding down.

I went to Ace Hardware and picked up a black snap grommet, either 1/2 or 5/8's, can't remember, just buy one of each... I put some black electrical tape around it until it fit snugly into the stock ring. Then shove it in and slide it down as far as it goes. That way it is snug (provided you use enough tape to snug it up) and actually looks like it's supposed to be there. It looks like the picture above, but closeup it still looks clean, with no big gap in between the ring and the shifter lever itself.
Hope that helps!
