this ABS thing is confusing, I just came back from taking out brake fluid from the abs reservoir and still no dice. Do you think by changing the brake fluid to new fluid it will fix it?
some of us still have abs

Uh, taking it out of the reservoir won't do anything. Your problems could be caused by air in the system or dirty fluid. Brake fluid absorbs moisture and does go bad over time...I changed some on our Chevy a while back and it was BLACK after the 9-10 years it had been in use.
I would either get a Helms manual and follow the procedures in there or have a good shop do it.

You're right it's very unlikely, but stranger things have happened

Nope. It's absorbed by the fluid. Both are generally clear.

brake fluid turns dark with moisture. If your brake fluid is dark, and not relatively clear like new, REPLACE IT.
Water reduces the boiling point of the brake fluid, and if it gets low enough and boils..... good luck stopping

Not likely, you will only find crappy Haynes/Chiltons at local auto parts stores.
Get a Helms from helminc.com or eBay.
