my speedometer stays stuck at 20mpg.. and it workes at times and some times does not.. just stays stuck.. the rpm works fine..

1996 civic ex coupe.. is it the cluster itself or speedo gear?

There is a TSB on 96-00 civic, the wiring harness rubs against the Intake manifold bracket which is on the back of the block and shorts out the speed sensor wire causing the needle to jump around on the gauge cluster. Just take the bracket off and toss it away,wrap up the exposed wire and your good to go.

i checked behind the engine.. the harness has a hard plastic protective cover and the manifold bracket is behind it.. it does not rub..
