Default Exhaust decided to go. Want opinions on choices

So as the title states, my exhaust **** the bed. Loud as [freak] and I accelerate as slow as a turtle.

I went under there to try to change my cat (because I'm 99% that was the problem) and it turns out, the bolts are so rusted on the back end connecting to the mid pipe, I can't even remove the cat alone. Not only that, but my muffler is starting to rust out bad and a hole will eventually start (will definitely be there this winter after all the salt and stuff).

So what do you guys think I should do?

A - try to junkyard an OEM used exhaust. (I have an OEM cat from my buddy, he gave it to me when he got a new cat, exhaust, and header)

B - go all out and buy a new WS2, Megan Racing header, and Magnaflow Hi-Flow cat (or use the OEM one), put it all on my credit card and pay it all off within a month to 2 months

C - other. please specify if you chose this.

Keep in mind my car is 100% stock and the engine / tranny are starting to go. Engine is coming up on 192k and needs another timing belt / water pump / head gasket / oil pan gasket (which I could change while I change out the header) / valve adjustment / etc. etc. etc.

just go back to stock, its not like your driving a heavily modded car, but if you want an aftermarket one try looking at a tanabe touring exhaust, i personally like the exhaust that arn't too loud, but when you step on it, its screams a little.

True. But then again, I wouldn't mind the ever so slight increase in mpg and having the first serious modifications since I got the car 4 years ago :D.

idk what car you drive but if it is sohc and your engine is about to go out and you buy a $500+ exhaust, and your engine gives, unless you swap in another sohc, i doubt the same exhaust/header set-up will fit a b series/dohc setup..

My car is just a stock EX. A few months ago, I planned on swapping in a B18B or B20 by the end of summer. Because I knew **** on my car (more importantly the engine / tranny) were gonna start to go soon.

But at the rate that ***** falling apart on my car, I'll probably just swap in another Y8 just for sake of money. It's just a DD. Though I would prefer a motor with a bit more torque and power, it's not a necessity.

As long as your swapping in a sohc if your engine gives, then i don't see a problem with getting an aftermarket exhaust. Heres some stuff to look at if you want.

Yeah. The way I figure, if I'm going to be swapping in a newER / better condition engine anyways, why not spend the extra money on stuff that'll last like 10+ years with the swapped engine so I don't have to change it again you know?

Anyone else?
