Default 2.2 si VTEC Problems

hi all,

ive just joined as im desperate for some help on the above car,

ive got problems with the speedo failing to work, the "S" LED on the dash blinking, occasional engine check light, and the 4WS keeps trying to kill me, (seems to kick in at high speed and makes me feel like ive hit oil)

all sounds like a disaster.

i dont know where to look, and want to avoid main dealer if poss, the guy i usually go cant plug her in to the diagnostic machine as it an import.

anyone got any advice/help, would be very much appreiciated

thanks

ben

S light? eh its early maybe ill remember what your talking about later.

but anyways the check engine light and the speedometer share the same problem.
when the speedometer malfunctions your cel will appear. Not always constant but will come on and off.

So replace the speedometer sensor, and both of those issues should be solved.

For the 4ws, ur mechanic should be able to look over your suspension and see what needs to be replaced.

Then again i am leary about your mechanic. your vehicle is obd1 therefore you cant plug in a obd2 diag scanner, you have to jump your connector to pull codes, theirs a few articles on how to do this on this site just go into search. So its not so much because u have a import, most scanners out now adays incorporate all makes and models, its just more the fact like i said u have a obd1 computer.

You may also try cleaning the sensor prongs, my old car had actually gotten coolant ****ed up in it, and caused my problems. Cleaned it and worked like a charm.
