Re: DOHC not kicking in...? (EK9KiNG)
OK bud, for started I could care lass but people are gonna flame you if you say your DOHC doesnt kick in. What you mean is your VTEC isnt kicking in. ANd a airfilter would have to me literally dipped in mub to cause a check engine light.
Second, dont listen to autozone (only had bad luck and alot of laughs, no offence anyone). Follow these instructions http://www.c-speedracing.com/faq/06.php and het back to me as to what the code is and I'll tell you what the problem is. Goodluck.

1.) did Autozone tell you what the code was?
2.) DOHC doesn't "kick in" sweetheart: the cams control different halves of the combustion process and they're both always in motion and they're both always working.
3.) you aren't "redlining" at 6.000rpm, you're hitting a rev limiter of some sort.
Answer: find out what code it is so we can tell you how to fix it.

Re: DOHC not kicking in...? (EK9KiNG)
Now that I think about i, a while back I got this code on my old B216a2, It was my vtec oil switch. Its a real easy part to swap out if thats it. Takes about 2 minutes literally. Im not saying for sure thats what it is but here is a pic to help.
Just used the pic of example.
The little green plug (in the pic it looks like its under the distributer but its next to it, thats the vtec solenoid. there are 2 plugs on it. the green one on the bottom of the vtec solenoid. thats what i had to replace, you don't need to remove the vtec solenoid to replace that.

Find out which ECU trouble code is accompanying the Check Engine Light. How-to:
http://www.c-speedracing.com/faq/06.php
https://honda-tech.com/zerothread/1171263
Or find out from AutoZone what the code was.
BTW, I would normally make fun of you for confusing "DOHC" with "VTEC," but I'm not really in the mood so I will spare you.

Re: DOHC not kicking in...? (EK9KiNG)
DUDE YOUR DOHC ALWAYS KICKS IN? DOHC MEANS DUAL OVER HEAD CAMS ,YOU HAVE TWO CAMS INSTEAD ON ONE. IF YOU MEAN YOUR V-TEC IS NOT KICKING IN CHECK YOUR OIL AND WIRING.

Re: DOHC not kicking in...? (CASTUDILLO01)
It was a question. There's really no reason to be complete ******** because he doesn't know what he's talking about. If you can't help then don't ****** post anything. No reason to be dicks... It's pretty sad that you can't even ask a question without getting your *** ripped or "flamed". This is a place to help other people with problems. This place is pathetic anymore...

just my input but those little paperclip tricks don't work.
its a 2000 si right. OBDII b motor then. listen man you have a DLC connector under the dash located by the fuse box. goto honda and have them hook up a scan tool to the connector and they can read all the codes you have that have been eluminated by the MIL (malfunction indicator lamp) and then you can start fixing your car with correct information.
