Spedometer is not working and redlines at 5500...Vtec is not working either!!!
Aight this is the problem...
One day I started up my car and started driving off. Usually I can rev up too 8200rpms but all i could go up too is 5500. I called a fren and he said it could be my spedometer sensor because my spedometer wasn't working. So i just came back from this Shop in San Marcos and they changed my spedometer sensor and nothing happened. It still redlines at 5500 when it should redline at 8200. Spedometer doesn't work. And check engine light is on. I don't know what else it could be. Can ya'll help me out. Oh yeah, Fuses are all good too.
Thank You

sounds like some kind of limp mode. My EG did the same thing when I first did the swap. It ended up being that the vtec solenoid wasn't wired to the correct pin. It would only go up to 5800, and than it would hit a redline. Check the cel and go from there. chances are if you fix what's causing the check engine light everything will work fine again.

I had the same problem and it ended up being one of the 3 wires coming from the VSS (vehicle speed sensor) was shorting out. If they already replaced the sensor then this is most likely your problem. The reason the car wont go past 5500 rpm is because it is in limp mode when the check engine light is on just like someone said above. Try to check the wiring I bet thats the problem. Good luck
