i have a 01 prelude h22a4 with 0nly 65000 miles almost stock, about 50% of the time the vtech will not kick in and when this happens the revlimitor boggs out about 1200 rpm's too soon. (around 7000 rpms) why is this happening? im selling it soon if i dont figure this out plz help!
Are you getting any check engine lights?
No vtech, it's VTEC.

ive had a check ingine light on since i bought it 1 month ago but the shop said it i cuz the air sensor from the air box is gone since a have an intake when he hooked up the computer
He was asking because there is a oil pressure sensor on the Vtec solenoid that will prevent it from engaging if oil pressure is too low.
there is no air sensor in the air box...
however if he's talking about missing the Intake Air temp sensor (on the intake manifold) being missing, that will stop vtec and cut your revs early.
Check your trouble codes and go from there

check ur codes and also check ur oil pan for dents if its blocking oil from the pickup vtec wont engage, you have to have over 55 psi or so for vtec to engage

Ugh...that shop sounds retarded. Either check the codes yourself or have another shop do it and give the number of the code. Then you will know what's wrong.
