Default Si Clutch Adjustment

I've heard rumors of Si's having the ability to adjust the clutch pedal. Can anyone clarify this for me? I've read randoms of the rod between the pedal and the master cylinder being adjustable for freeplay but I have no clue what this means.

yes this is true. There is a rod that comes out of the master cylinder. On the end f that rod is a U shaped clamp. That you shaped clamp attaches to the clutch via a little rod and on one side of it is a cotter pin. Take the cotter pin out, pull the pin through the pedal and the rod from the cylinder. There is a nut behind the U shaped clamp, loosen that and the U clamp will spin toward the front or back of car. Why do you need to adjust it?

it does not change enguagement, it changes clutch pedal height. i maxed mine out, because i have an aftermarket clutch with a shallow enguagement window. so, i put the pedal all the way down as this makes racing the car much easier.

it is very simple, but do not forget to lower/adjust the enguagement switch as well. good luck.

Doing those steps will adjust your engagement point and free play. I adjusted my engagement not 3 days ago, anyone who says it can't be done is out of their mind.

I'll let you in on a little secret...
95% of full-time techs know nothing, unless they have the manual in their handsl. You shouldnt expect them to know everything, either.
They perform general maintenance everyday, and adjusting a clutch isnt something theyve probably ever done, since most cars are auto's

The things about hydraulic systems is that they adjust them selfs during time. Cable systems you sometimes have to adjust it through time when the clutch starts to wear down.

So my engagement point is too high on the up take. The disengagement is fine (when I press down) but when letting up on the clutch I have to let it up almost the entire distance before it engages. Did you have a similar problem and which nut controls this? Did you turn the rod clockwise in to adjust it or do I need to just lower the pedal height?

This sounds sweet. I have a Stage 2 clutch on my EJ1 and the engagement point is almost at the top of the pedal travel..the engagement point is also VERY narrow..so with that and the engagement point being at the top of the pedal it makes driving in traffic, etc a bit of a pain.

So..can this only be done on the SIs or can I do this on my 93 Civic EX?

Well I went out and looked and sure enough my EJ1 had that locknut so I adjusted it. Now theres not much travel in the pedal and my grab point is lower.

SWEET..its alot easier to drive now.

So for those that said it doesn't change the engagement point..it does. It didn't make the stage 2 clutch feel change..its still has a very snappy narrow engagement point, it just allowed me to move the engagement point closer to the floorboard instead of an inch from the very top of the pedal travel. Its nice. Plus with the pedal travel itself being cut down..its even easier to hammer through the gears fast.

Honda dealer replaced clutch on my Honda Civic Si 2002. They do not want to adjust my clutch pedal as it was before. Before I push the pedal almost to the floor in order to shift gears. Now, I can do that on the top of the pedal and I really don't like that. I asked them to adjust it and they told me there is nothing they cannot do because is an hydraulic clutch. Anyone can help me???
