32 levels of dampening, IMHO that is not needed and a waste.
But they are pretty, cause I like red things

It just means it "clicks" 32 times. If they remove the tiny piece of metal that does the makes the noise/feel , the coilovers would theroretically have an infinite number of settings. My old koni yellows never clicked...., the clicks just help you redial in your previous settings, if you change them.

It goes back to the digital vs analog. Read a digital clock, it says 3:45, read an analog clock, it could be 3 hours and .7541232 hour

So what that company is saying by having 32 levels of adjustability is that when they do a shock dyno it will have 32 different lines like this chart?

32 way adjustable... divide that by 8... and you might get 4 lines. So basically every 8 clicks softens or stiffens 1 level.

I always and continually wonder why it's so hard to make a damper 4 to 6 way adjustable instead of 32 or 48..or eleventyOMG!!

these look like they probably come from the same factory in taiwan that makes D2, K-sport, Megan, and so many others.

i'm not trying to knock anybody here...but i learned my lesson a long time ago. its very simple: buy shocks from companies that make shocks and buy springs from companies that make springs.

if you buy a product from someone that SPECIALIZES in that particular area, then you are reaping the benefits of years of R&D. so many of these new "JDM" products are cookie-cutter parts that are just re-badged with different brand names on them. companies like mugen and spoon do not actually make their own shocks, but rather source them from companies like Showa who specialize in damper technology. i'm not sure where they source their springs from, but i'd be willing to guess its a company that specializes in springs. see what i'm getting at? when you buy these random *** "JDM" parts, you never really KNOW what youre getting.

"popular ***" coilover right there.

What JOHN WAYNE said is right on. of those 32 clicks you'll maybe get 3-4 changes and I'll bet you they are random as hell.

What kind of bolt are you using in the rear LCA? If it isn't OEM, go out and get one ASAP.

Not trying to knock your new purchase, but you would have been better off with Koni yellows and ground controls. Price would have been cheaper too.

ditto on the bolt.... but if you've never used these particular coil-overs how could you give that opinion? i personally have gc/koni setup and love it but their are other setups out there that work good for the average person

This is a very good point. So what about PIC? Do they source out there stuff to companies that focus on that particular product or are the companies developing their own stuff?

VW GTI is strut-based. Completely different.

Koni/Ground Control works so much better on double-wishbone Hondas it isn't funny.

You've named some names - where do you think those companies buy their shocks from? And where do you think they buy their springs from?

More and more, people are asking questions just for the sake of asking questions. Whether or not the answers they get are meaningful or useful to them doesn't seem to matter, just that they get some sort of answer. If enough people jump on a bandwagon answer, then you end up with a "fact".

Perfect example: shock dynos. "Where is xyz company's shock dyno? I want to see it." On a rare occasion, a shock dyno is posted, and people look at it for a second before realizing they have no idea what it means. Some guess they know what it means, misinterpret it, and come away with some misconceptions and maybe even begin spreading false information.

When do you ever really know where the product you're buying comes from? When does that knowledge become useful to the consumer? When does country/company of manufacture start to affect the quality of the product you buy? How would you, as the consumer, know? Why should you care? If I told everyone that my shocks are made by some old man living in the boonies of Karachi based on some lecture notes he found on the street from someone who attended a Claude Rouelle suspension seminar in 1996, would that change the quality of my products, or how they perform? What if I said that they were made in Germany by a team of retired F1 suspension experts on a limitless budget and that every setup was tested by professional drivers at Nurburgring? At the end of the day, it's still a coilover, and it performs how it performs and you get what you get, no matter who made it and where. The real questions to be asking are the ones who's answers tell you why they are better than a competitor's product, not where they are made and who makes them.

i made a point to NOT mention anything about shock dynos, because youre right, the average person really doesnt understand what they are looking at...and i'm not going to pretend that i know either. i guess what i was getting at was that if you can buy a product from a company that has already established a reputation, you are also buying peace of mind. for me, all that really matters "at the end of the day", is that i have a product that is made by a company who KNOWS their product. i dont need to be the suspension expert, but i damn sure hope that the person who designed my coilover is. and my point about "cookie cutter" products was actually raising a question: what makes these products any different from each other?? they all look the same, offer the same "features", etc. just go take a look at every single aftermarket LCA..its the same damn thing with slightly different casting designs, so what makes one better than the other???

maybe i am just a skeptic, but i dont trust that a company who "jumped on the JDM bandwagon" is going to 1) be experts in their products when they dont have to do their own R&D and 2) provide any type of adequate support for their products.

the point is that i dont need to know where the product ACTUALLY comes from or even what the shock dyno looks like. i just want a product that i know other people (whose opinions i respect) have been satisfied with and a product that can be easily REPLACED when it breaks.

i know that a lot of people in this forum are partial to the PIC products, largely because PIC plays an active role in the community here (which is a very cool thing). they share their knowledge and expertise and offer a type of customer service that goes beyond their competitors. this type of customer support and concern is something valuable and worth paying money for.

Dude...this thread is 2 years old.

And honestly, reviews are only as good/knowlegable as the person doing them. I've seen fantastic reviews of Megan's, and we all know (ok, most of us) those are complete pieces of crap.

If you have eaten nothing but mud your entire life, then a 3-day old mcdonalds hamburger might taste pretty good. It's all in the perspective...
