Default ecu harness problem

I tried to run diagnostic in my car today and guess what, the plug does not work. We checked his computer to another car and its fine. This is also the same harness/plug that plugs me into the ca emissions computer, right?

So where/how do i start to trouble shoot this problem?

I admit the car had been very neglected, and has almost been stolen a number of times. They'd ripped out the column and under the dash and might have pulled some wires.

The car is stock. It's been running well till recent. I just want to get it back to great running condition and take better care of my 99 hatch Please help

well your going to have to let people know if its OBD1 or OBD2

either way the pinouts for obd1 are very easy its 2 wires

Obd2 is a bit different, they have a couple more wires, although you could relocate the pinouts off the ecu directly and attach like a 3-4 foot cord off the ecu so you can route the thing where ever you want.

yeah that probably works too as the honda ecu's have sensor ground and also normal ground.

your simply connecting D4 + D21/D22 together that gets the CEL on the dash to blink error codes.

well searching the forums hear will show you complete obd2 pinouts.

then looking on your obd2 connector in your car should give you an idea of which pins do what. From experience I know if you short that connector the fuse for the radio blows which tells me that theres a 12v lead thats wired to the radio thats also included in your obd2 connector, i believe its something like 3-4 wires..
