i have run across a GSR shortblock everything is in excellent condition exept for #1 cylinder hydrolocked broke the rod in half and took two chunks out of the bottom of the sleeve half the size of a quarter.
my question is has anyone had a factory sleeve reinstalled?
whats usual price on this parts and labor?

i'm not sure you can have a single sleeve replaced with another stock one. the iron liner is cast in to the aluminum form, which is integral to the block itself.

pretty sure if you want to salvage the block, you'll have to get aftermarket, ductile iron sleeves installed after having the factory floating sleeves machined out.

post pics, if available. may be i'm misunderstanding.

 

We had a shop try to do that, and it was suggested that the liner would lift out.
