d16y8 iNTO 91 hatch-ecu help!!
I'm almost done with werkin on this swap, but have a cuple ?'s bout running the ecu.
i have seen other post about what ecu's to use, and heard somethin bout a zdyne ecu but its like 350 bones!! is there any other choice about ecu's that i can use besides this one, and with whatever ecu i choose, what distro do i use, as well as harness. THANK U ALL AHEAD OF TIME.
also ill let u know ahead of time: I DONT WANT TO GHETTO RIG IT WITH A VTECH BUTTON, i would like the ecu to control the vtec, thank u
im using a 1991 civic si tranny, dc headers, intake, exhaust, d16y8 motor.
I ALSO NEED TO SELL A 97 DEL SOL SI TRANNY- it has 85k on it perfect condition!!

What model?
If it is a Si, you can use the stock ECU w/ a window switch. You can also use the ecu from the car that the engine came from.
For a DX or STD you will need to do an MPFI swap, I don't think there is a conversion harness but it is not hard at all.

If you want an ECU to control the VTEC then you need to use the p28 which requires you to change your ECU wiring to obd1. Now, you still have to do the mpfi modifications yourself on the engine bay but I can make you an obd0 to obd1 conversion harness so you can use the p28 and it would be a plug and play.
$100 shipped
let me know,

Here's some of the things I ran in to:

I made my own converter harness. it cost me $0. However, since you have a dx it may be different. You may just wanna buy one.

I would recommend you use the P28 ecu and go OBD-1. Even though some people are going to say that it doesn't make a difference and just use the Si ecu, let me tell you it does. I had a Z6 in my civic hb and was using the si ecu. Well I got a hold of the Zdyne ecu real cheap and put that on instead. It's almost like having another engine in. The top end was finally there and it felt like a real sohc vtec and not just a sohc. Use the ecu that was designed to run that engine and you'll be very satisfied.
yeah ive been thinkin bout purchasing the zendyne ecu, and one wire harness, it sounds alot easier that way, although i dont mind wiring the engine again.
THANX ALOT FOR THE HELP PEEPS!!
EDIT:: ok i im deciding to purchase the obd0 to obd1 converted wiring harness, and use a p28 ecu, itll be 100 for the harness, but i still have to find a ecu,
ANY1 KNOW WHERE I CAN GET A P28 ECU????

you will want to use the obd1 p28 ecu.....using an obd2 ecu is just a pain since it is a challenging project rewiring an obd0 to obd2. Besides, obd2 cars have added emissions crap that the obd1 does not have and therefore it is said that obd1 cars perform better.
