I have a lsvtec motor in the works and was wondering if performance-wise should I get a vtec controller or just stick with my pr3 ecu and run it like it is?

It's a fully built motor I'm building...CTR cams, us type R pistons (.25 oversize), port & polish, Type R internals (valvesprings, retainers, guiderods, motion assembly), 70mm TB, skunk2 intake and camgears
Well if your going to have all that then your definaly going to want more then that lousy stock ECU. Get it chipped first and then a Vtec controller and dyno time will be best for you to get what kind of performance you are looking for.

No doubt I'm getting my ECU chipped...however there are people that prefer to keep adjustments to a minimum, not too complicated. It works equally well once tuned properly...I've never used or seen someone with a VTEC controller so I cant really comprehend its advantage.

well with a ls/vtec i would think he would need a vtec controller to lower vtec crossover point because of the rev capability and redline of the ls block compared to the b16a...
even with cams or no cams...
