The "best" one is the one that your tuner is most comfortable with. Each unit does the same basic things, its mostly just a matter of the interface and some minor features.

I like the VAFC by Apexi Well now there is the VAFC II

But like the person above said... It's the one I am comfortable with. Seems to be the most popular or atleast one of the most popular on the market. But there are others.

Feilds has a decent vtec controller but most people like the Apex'i unit b/c of the onscreen display. but there are many units out there.

If your R is stock, waste of money. Just a noise maker if u lower vtec pt. w/ no gain.

yep.. its waiste of money... its best to get hondata, but only if you're going to modify the car much further.. if you're going for extra 10-15whp.. don't bother, or just keep the car stock and you'll save a whole lot of money, theres not much difference unless you make your car fast.. - i mean a whole lot faster.

Go with the hondata or if you are really feeling rich, APex POwer FC. Stand alone ecus are so much more tuner friendly and they just do so much more.

I would get the VAFCII if I were to buy a new one. Yes, hondata and AEM are great but you need to live near someone who can tune them. The good thing about the VAFC II is that it now has 2 fuel maps. If you have an exhaust with a silencer you could have two programs, one with silencer in and one without. Currently I have to change my settings at the track once I take the silencer out....

I agree, a vtec controller is just 'bling bling' if you dont have many mods on your car. If you got some power then a vtec controller or standalone will be necessary to tune your **** to get maximum hp. With just I/H/E you will probably only squeeze out just a few extra hp. But.. if you have the money then why not.

If you really want one, and plan on just doing bolt ons and the like and want to hit up a dyno, V-AFC (I or II depending on how much bling you want)....

thats just plain wrong to say.

Wait till i get mine, right now my stock R is running so rich its stealing power.
After I tune it I'm sure I'll get some more HP but better more MPG and hopefully less oil burn too.

Please don't say things without evidence or some kinda proof.

Even a minimally modded ITR (intake/header) will benefit from moving the VTEC x-over point.

Listen to Willard. A vafc is a tuning tool. You don't wire it up and get 15whp. However, if you have a competent tuner, you can pick up some nice gains with it. Alot of people dis the VAFC and say its bad for changing your x-over, but they probably just change the x-over and expect it to change everything to account for that change automatically.

first.. i'll quote my first post

<TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote, originally posted by vtec.dc2 &raquo;</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">

next, i speak from experience.. i've been there.. extra 10-15whp across powerband with tuning i/h/e.. and yes, theres is a difference.. but so little difference in the long run.. car starts to feel slow and stock again.. so i'd rather drive it stock or with much faster setup..
