Default OBX LSD for a 90-91 Si tranny?

I was looking at this OBX LSD but it says that it is not for 90-91 Si 40 mm bearings? http://www.sparktecmotorsports....html

I have a 1991 Si tranny that I am trying to put an OBX LSD in. Which LSD can I use if not that one?

88-00 D diffs are all the same, large or small bearings.

yes, I'm god/guru on this subject

All Si's are 40mm bearings

So why would they say that it doens't fit the 90-91 Si's? Are they just flat out wrong and don't know what they are talking about?

they probably only tested it in certain transmissions or something. Either way.. Mista Bone is the man when it comes to d transmissions.

Quaife is the company that screwed the info all up, OBX is just going off their info. I've talked with Quaife UK about fixing the error, but nothing has ever happen.

What did take place, they used a 90-91 EX tranny, which is a 4.058 FD and 35mm bearings. Quaife made a few for the smaller bearings, but screwed up the area for the speedo ring gear. The 35mm units are machined to accept the 40m speedo ring gear. With the larger speedo gear, the inner bearing race doesn't hold the speedo ring gear in place, allowing it to move around.

This will be fixed by machining the step down from 48mm to 43mm, simple process, but I don't own a 14" lathe.

Now before someone goes looking for these Quaifes, I was told I was given the last two that a customer purchased.

Back to OBX's, I've installed 34 so far without failures. #35 had to be sent back due to runout issues, seems quite a few in that batch had the problem, I know of 5 and thats not counting anyone one HT since I don't post here much anymore.

A customer of mine.......
