d series parts are all interchangeable its just the OBD1 or OBD2 wiring is what you really need to worry about

yeah, but when i was swithing over the v-tech seclnoid, it wouldn't fit, also the whole cam shaft was put in but the top part to know if your distributor is advance or not, is too short for the z6 distributor, the third bolt wont fit?

Besides what you already mentioned, what other parts are you trying to "swap"? Be specific and we can tell you...

BTW, the Y8 cam will work with a Y8 cam gear...but then you've got the 7/8degrees of timing difference to worry about. Haven't tried a Y8 vtec noid on a Z6...guess that's no go then.

youd be right, the Y8 and Z6 solenoid are different a Z6 solenoind will work on a B16 head as well. When trying to put a Y8 cam in a Z6 head you need to run an adjustable gear to adjust the cam timing back to 0*. Internals, transmission and what not will all go with out an issue. Converting a Y8 to OBD1 isnt that hard. Dizzy is the biggest thing. You can put Z6 dizzy guts in a Y8 dizzy that way you wont have any fitment issues.

vtec solenoid and the dizzys are the only things ive ran into prob with that arent truly swappable, but the dizzy could be fixed with swapping the internals or a conversion harness, and with the cams you need to watch out for timing differences too

onboard diagnostics

Basically OBD1 ECU's can be chipped and are favorable for tuning,

OBD2 is a pain in the rear and that is why you will see people get OBD2 - OBD1 conversion harnesses to run P28 or other OBD1 ECU's
