Default rebuilt engine CTR pistons oil smoke

I rebuilt my b16 with CTR pistons i checked every possible clearance and balanced every thing. Now when i race or give the car pure H#LL it runs great no smoke. When i am just going down the road like i should it will smoke a little during decleration. It is oil i can smell it and see it.Example When i go down a hill at 55 and declerate to the bottom when i get back on the throttle it will puff out oil smoke just for a split second. the longer i declerate the heaver the oil smoke is. I was just wandering if maybe i need a catch can.

So you get back on the throttle after compression braking and it smokes? Or are you just decelerating with the engine at idle and with the clutch in?

To check if its the VSS, get the engine to operating temp and let it sit there and idle for a few minutes in your driveway/garage and then blip the throttle. If it smokes that is usually a good indication of worn out VSS.

i going to try that. I put brand new valve seals in it when i rebuilt that maybe the valve guides. im building a h2b setup now so i guess if its the valve seals i will just keep driving it till i get the h22 in it. but i will keep you up todate on what i get to day on my drive to work

sounds like you used the same rings on the pistons...try replacing those or even get the sleeves honed or something. hope that helps out

you may have broken a piston ring when you put them in. i did that when i rebuilt my buddies b16 and it smoked like that.

i dont think i did i was putting together my f23 today and i broke the second ring i knew when i did it. the b16 pistons went in so well. I drove it to work today it has let up alot. it is not really that bad now. it only does it going down hill. i think it is the valve guides because that is the only thing i did not check when i put it together. I have built about 4 or 5 b16 and this was the first that ever happen. i had the b16 laying around and i wanted to learn to tune so that is why put ctr pistons in it. so far no pinging. i just heard that oil burning will cause it to detonate.any way can bad valve guides cause oil burning.
