Default sluggish vtec

i just got my car out the shop. they machine shop did my head. i added in skunk2 tuner series cams stage 1. right now i punch it, it feels its VERY VERY sluggish. the vtec kicks in and its loud but my car isnt moving. i swapped out ECU's to a P2T and i feel/notice a little difference but vtec kicks in at 5500. i had 2 different opionons on this issue. my dad friend says to get it tuned. my other friend who been helping me building my ride says i need a bigger fuel pump and fuel rail. i am running a stock ob2 gsr ecu and running a stock fuel pump in a 99 civic dx. any suggestions?

you need to get it tuned bud. with larger cams you Air/Fuel ratio is all off and you need to get the map reset for bigger cams. a fuel rail and pump wont get you anywhere... the stock ones you have are fine. It sounds like it starving for fuel and thats is easily fixable with a good street tune. also VTEC usually kicks around 5800... if you go too low it steals power.

well the shop who is gonna tune my ride said i should get a bigger fuel pump and a fuel rail and a air/fuel gauge. i got a good deal on it too. Walbro 255 pump and a Golden Eagle high flow fuel rail for 150 bucks all brand new. we installed it and it doesnt feel sluggish. the new problem is that it starts vtec at 4500 then around 5700ish it kinda gets out of it...then at 6k the power picks back up hard. i think its the vtec crossover points need to be adjusted. what do you guys recommend a apexi VAFC, Hondata s200 or the Phearable.net chip and socketed ecu?

u shouldnt really need a fuel rail, fuel pump, since all u put in are cams unless u are turbo also since cams arent gonna put u in the high WHP range. my buddy is running a stock fuel rail/ FPR on his turbo b16 with gsr cams, since he had buddy club spec3+ cams which when he went to J-K-tuning this monday to get his car tuned VTEC never kicked in till 7500 rpm and still made 220hp and hes looking for DD 350whp. so the fuel rail fuel pump just wasted money

oh with the ecu i would recommend either a p28 or p30 ecu get an obd2 to obd1 conversion harness and get it socketed so its easy to tune

well this is the thing. when i put the new fuel rail in..the vtec isnt boggin out no more. i mean i notice the difference. so the question for me right now is apexi VAFC, Hondata s200 or Phearable.net chipped ecus. any opinions.

theres other alternatives like neptune or something along those lines. phearable makes great basemaps but its still not a true tune

No but it should be very close. The only way to do it right is on the dyno.
