Default need advice on gsr build(ctr pistons/skunk pro 2 cams)???

I posted this in the hybrid forum and got nothing. I am rebuilding my gsr and was looking into my options. I was going to go with p30 pistons and skunk two cams. Afteer i ordered the cams i look on skunk2's weebsite at the recommended c/r for pro2 cams(12.1:1-13.1:1). After reading that i decided to go with the ctr pistons for the c/r(being over 12.1:1). I have searched this setup and have found very mixed feelings. I am looking for anyone that has expeirence with this setup who could give some advice as to what i can?should do to make this streetable. i am not planning on driving this everyday, just a weekend/track car but i still want to use pump gas. I was wanting to know if i am going to be ok running 93 and a good octane booster. here is my setup so far
95 gsr head and block
port and polished head
skunk 2 pro 2 cams
and cam gears
skunk 2 intake manifold
super tech dual valve springs and retainers
benen fuel rail, blox fpr
walbro lph 255 fuel pump
gar block honed with all new bearings and seals
ctr pistons
rage blockguard
arp mains and head studs
eagle i beam rods
cold air intake
n1 catback with hiflow cat
have not bought header yet need advice on that(jvt, kteller, hytech???)
chipped p28 ecu that will be dyno tuned before it hits the street.
well thats about it so far. would like if someone could teel me what i could to improve on this and what they think about this setup. is it going to be streetanle with a good tune? and is there any other major issues that i need to address before i finish the build?
any comments are welcomed.

If you're worried about CR being too high with the PCT cams, you can deshroud your valves and do some combustion chamber work to increase flow and the displacement of the combustion chamber, while at the same reduce your CR a bit so its tunable on 93 octane.

CTR pistons on a 93 octane is not the way I would go.

rant: Man, I wish skunk would change that crap about CR. Those cams make a motor respond when you have at least 1.8Ls, a good flowing head, intake manifold, and header. They will make power in a stock motor if you rev to 8.5~9.0 K
end rant:

Go with a wiseco 11.5:1 piston. The compression will be streetable and those pistons can take a lot more abuse than those heavy cast pistons.

Plus, you are going to have to check P-V to make sure you can get them degree'd properly.

What is a good way to go with what i have. is there anything i can do to make this setup worth a crap. I guess what i am trying to say is what can i do to make this setup work i.e. race fuel, ect. . I also have a b16 head. does'nt that lower the c/r when put on gsr block? would that help any?

i agree skunk2 should change that rating. ive seen people do just fine on 1.8's although some have looked a tad overcammed.

although...the pro2's may bleed off enough and make your dynamic compression a little lower and possibly manageable (i may be using the wrong word, i get static and dynamic compression confused).

my vote would be to put in a set of p30's, that will make for a nice setup, that can run on 93 pump.

that is what i keep hearing. hind sight is 20 20. i wish i would have had someone slap me as i was ordering the ctr's. I was going to order the p30's until i got skunk2's website and saw that the recommendend c/r was 12.1:1-13.1:1. o'well so i guess the end conclusion is there is really no "good" way to use this setup and i should just order some p30's witch is what i should have done in the first place.

A b16 head will lower compression and that will help to make tuning a and fuel a bit more streetable.

You can run race fuel and that will make this set-up work but that is going to cost alot.

Do combustion chamber work, get up to like 44cc, that should get you down to around 12.3:1 CR. Or you could get a cometic head gasket, like a .046" That will drop you down close to 12:1 CR.

how thick is the cometic 3 layer head gasket? I have one of these, if its not then i guess i will get the .046 as you said and use my b16 and put the p72 head on my lsv. thank for all the help.

What's the part number for the cometic head gasket, the last 3 numbers indicate the thickness, such as the typical thickness 030 = .030" or 041 = .041", 046 = .046", 051 = .051" you get the picture.

If you mean, you can tune it by pulling a bunch of timing to get it to run on pump gas without detonating...I guess you could call that "a tune". To bad you didn't realize you could have made more power, reliably on pump gas, with less compression.

I wouldn't recommend replacing your current pistons with the B16B (Civic Type R) pistons. The problem with those pistons are the valve pockets are very shallow, meaning you will more than likely have clearance issues, especially with an aggressive cam like the Pro 2's.

I recommend upgrading to some forged pistons like Wiseco & etc with deeper shallow pockets since you plan on disassembling the block anyway, this way you can avoid having as many clearance issues and those pistons will run cooler because they are made from forged aluminum.

I have ctr's in my gsr block/gsr head, 82mm bore with skunck2 stage 3 tunners, built and port pollished head and etc. I just put it in, planning on a tune asap before i mess something up! but as of right now the car runs good. I think it needs a valve adjustment. car idles a little when it's cold

I'm using a .074 cometic head gasket, it seems to have drop my com.
