Default Stock b16b - lowering compression?

hi,

fiorsty i will say this will only be as a temporary solution for a couple months max,

i have a b16a build going on(sleeved and forged) but i have all my turbo bits here ready and i figured i could bolt them all to my stock b16b whilst im building my b16a,

i was thinking of using a thicker headgasket to lower the comp ratio...what do you guys think and what HG is ideal?

only lookin at running 5-6psi on the b16b whilst im bulding my b16a just to get a taste of boost and to possibly iron out any teething problems i may have with some parts

Cheers
Dave

I wouldn't change the HG at all, especially at those boost levels. Just keep it stock. I'd just make sure the tune was conservative and you put in the highest octane gas you can afford into the tank. What kind of gas do you all have over there across the pond?

we have 99ron which i believe is the same as your 93 ron?
but our 99ron is close to $2.40 a litre!

so do you guys think it will be okay completely stock at say 5psi for a few months?

yeah i would just turbo the stock motor, if its healthy and tuned properly i dont think you will have any issues.

You should have built and sleeved the b16b block it has a taller deck like the 1.8 liter blocks.

well i got the b16a allready built and cheap,

and yes its a healthy motor, i have a few of Q's

so t3.t4 57 trim, 5 psi should be okay?

what sort of power should i be hoping for on 99 ron?

also i have quite a large intercooler setup 31x12x3 which was initally going to be used for the forged build, will this be okay? i understand it wont be as responsive as a smaller setup any other issues?

it should be fine. 5psi should be no problem as long as its tuned properly. what are your plans for engine management and fueling?

You may also want to invest in some injectors.

definately not. even at 5psi you wont have enough fuel with the stock injectors.

Obd2, i'll get some decent ones, the plan was 750's anyway for the forged build will these run okay on the low power, and to save wiring in resistor boxes i want saturated injectors..correct?
