Whos running the most boost on stock bottom C5?
Just curious who here is running the most boost on a stock bottom end and stock compression B18C5 motor.
Just curious to see if anyone is pushning the envelope like i plan on doing and how it has been working out for thme . Also any issues with copression and tuning and octane gas they run daily ?
Just to get an idea of whos got what
Thanks guys

what do you mean by pushing the envelope. my c5 is not boosted yet, but it will be soon. i plan on running about 7-8 psi for starters then move up to like 12 or so later on.

I'm dropping the C5 bottom end on mine and replacing with a fully reinforced/built C1.
Me and a buddy of mine ran Stock Internals on his C5 at 6psi and spiked to 8psi and nothing happened.

well im 6.5 now , no biggie and going 8 this weekend no biggie
but i wanna know who here is pushing 10-12 psi on stock bottoms on the R motor and stock compression and how its workign out for thme , are they still using pump gas? or doing a mix of some sort to boost the octane so it doesnt detonate?
was tunign a bitch ?

That's quite a high goal for a stock high compression motor. I'm not saying that it's impossible. Anyhow, has the though of dropping in oversized GSR pistons crossed your mind? I'm not sure exactly what the compression ratio would be but it would drop it down just a tad so you'll have room to explore. Make sure you get a great fuel delivery system and tune, tune, tune. That's all I got to say. The AEM EMS system is a very attractive system if you're willing to spend the money and effort to tune it.

i was running 7-8 on mine, missed a shift, hit the rev limiter broke some piston lands(my fault ) right now im ready to put the motor back in my car,GE sleeved block, endyn pistons eagle rods.

i have a hondata and will finish up the tuning this weeknd for street tuning and going to a dyno day next weekend to do the fine tuning and timingmaps .
so thats not the issue.
I dont want to drop the comopression , i want to keep the stock comression and internals for as long as possible, but would love to see at least 10 psi on the set up i have now .
i know someone has to be pushing the envelope,i dont wanna be the only one.
anything can be done with the right tuning though.
I have allt he right parts, and a good tuner. just curious as to who else is attemtping to defi the odds

From other cars we have built, you can push the c5 buttom end to 10 psi. But dont do it on pump gas. Mix 94 with a little c16 and you will be straight. The only weak part is, not having any arp studs. That head will most likely lift after 10 psi with stock studs and headgasket. If you want to keep it running hard for a long time run 8-9 psi at the track, if you want to push the envelope, have money put aside for a rebuild or another motor.

so you think new head studs and gasket might be a good idea in the near future?
you think 8-9 psi for daily driving and track use would be col with good tuning .
you think on 94 she will be ok ?
when i go to the track ill prob run higher grade, but for the street 94 is $1.85 a gallon here. i was thinking of mixing Toulene or soemthing in there, but it would get too expensive.

I think ARP studs and a thicker gasket will def. do you justice. Then you can push the limits of the motor on the safer side.

becuase i can make more horepower on 10 psi on my motor then alot of people here can do on 12-15 on thier lower compression motors . . . . thats why ,
plus i want to be able to say i do this on a stock block and 10.6:1 so all the people who tlak **** on the compression can be proved wrong .
