225 45 17 to wide?
I have a 5th gen prelude with Tein SS Coilovers on 17in 5zigen rims. The tires on it now are 205 40 17s.

My question is can 225 45 17s fit my car without any rubbing in the front or rear? Anyone running this size tire on there 5th gen? PICS PLZ to see if they stick out to much.
I need to replace my tires and can get these 225s dirt cheap off my boss' son. I know i can raise the car so it wont rub the fender or quarter
, but will it be to wide of a tire? I dont want my tires sticking out and looking stupid.
Thanks in advance..
SORRY if pic isnt working...

Thanks for the info.
I believe the offset on the wheels is 48..
So they're NOT to wide and they wont stick out to far?
Anyone have a pic of 225 45s on ther 5th gen?
Thanks again.

It will not be too wide, that I know for a fact. BUT the overall diameter of the tire will be increased and that may cause rubbing, along with throwing off your speedometer and slowing down your car a bit. I wouldn't go with that tire size on a Prelude.
Thanks for all your inputs, but i think im going to get them still and try them out.
Sh*t for the price of them i cant let them go. (4 bfg g-force sports almost new $100)
If im not happy i can just resell them..
He used them for about 2 months b4 he got rid of his car. They still have the little rubber hairs on the side walls.

both sides rub for me. the rears rub the rear bumper, but u can cut it off or sand it down to make it fit. the fronts rub for me also, but only when going up driveways or speed bumps. not sure of the offset, but i'm on aspec rsx rims.

after cutting my rear bumper and fender liner in the front..the front only rubs under hard turns. but now i found out the rear is rubbing on the lower control arm on unsmooth roads..i guess i have to lower my car
anyother way to fix the rubbing on the lower control arms?

Anyone running or know anyone running 225 / 40 / 17? That keeps the overall diameter closer to stock. Few tire makers make this size but you can find it.

Make sure you got a correct wheels size/offset and tire size.
