Default help. d15b2 --> d15b8

i have a 91 civic that i just put a d15b8 into. its using the stock d15b2 manifold. everything bolted up fine but it is having trouble starting. it starts and runs rough for literally 2-3 seconds and dies. i triple checked the firing order and connectors and everything checks out. any ideas? im thinking because the b8 is an 8 valve motor and the b2 is a 16 valve, maybe the ecu is dumping too much fuel? help please. im stumped.

i had a d15b8 (cx) in my 89 dx hatch before too. everything stock, the b2 gave up on me and all i did was the engine swap. i got the b8 for free from my brother and the first thing i checked was the timing. anyway, just check your timing, it only takes 40minutes of your time to adjust it..

ok i redid timing and the belt was off by a tooth. adjusted it and still no go. i tested and there is spark. i can hear the fuel pump prime when the ignition is in the on position. how do i check if the carb is getting fuel?

i can smell fuel coming from the carb but when the pump primes i cannot see a mist coming from any of the injectors.

maybe the problem is that you're using a carb? j/k, but there isn't a carbuerator on a fuel injected engine. the injectors shouldn't be spraying fuel just because the system is pressurized. when the pump primes, it's pressurizing the fuel system. the ecu then has to send a signal to the injectors to open. it's possible that the injectors aren't getting the signal they need.

how is your compression? if you are getting air, fuel and spark the engine should fire.

Dude I just did the same swap. Mine is doing the same thing as yours. Seems to be to much fuel and smells rich and miss fires. I need help too!
