looking for an answer to what happened to my bottom end
i want to start out by im not blaming anyone im just looking for some ideas on wtf went on here. alright d16z6 motor stock head, blockguard, vitara pistons, eagle rods, acl bearings. fire the motor up for the first time and boom shes idling like a kitten. i let her warm up to operating temp and turn her off. go grab a bite to eat and come back and drain the oil. refill her and change the filter as well. fire her back up and once she gets to operating temp for the 2nd time i decide to go break her in. at 9.9 miles (reset the mileage) the oil pressure light comes on so i pull over and shut her down. i pop the hood and check the wiring for the switch and look for leaks, along with the oil level. checks out good. i try to turn her back over and she sounds a bit rough. try it again and i notice the cam now isnt moving so i say to myself wtf it seized. take her back home and take the pan off a week later. upon removal of the pan i notice metal peices (pictured below). i then take the head off right quick and all 4 cylinders looks great along with the pistons tops so i look underneath again. 1-3 all look good. i removed the girdle and such i cant see whats seizing it except i have metal peices which my assumption was that they got sucked up and the filter had stopped them but it couldnt suck anymore oil thus causing the low oil pressure. well as i get to rod 4 i then see the madness. it appears the rod cap rubbed the throw on the crank to the point where the cap got hot enough to turn itself black and literally shave metal off of the throw on the crank. creating metal and i guess getting inbetween the bearings of number 4 and such. check this out. im looking for some ideas of just anything. looking at the side of the cap you can see where it was rubbing as well and on the crnak pictures you can tell. now yes the bearing surface is definatly [freak]ed but its not bearing shavings/pieces you see in those pictures below. no way. thanks for you time guys

who assembled the bottom end? what bearings were used? what were the bearing clearences? what do the mains look like?
sorry about the whole situation.......that must suck

I also see the oem ball plugs are still in the crank. The oil galleys can retain crap in the ends if these are not removed and cleaned.Especially if the crank was ground. This is not to say that this will always happen, but if everything else was done correctly this may have been the cause.
make sure you installed your pistons onto the rods correctly. if they are on backwards oil wont get to the bearings and you'll burn them up again. looks to me like your crank is f**ked too. good luck

Does oil fall down from the cylinder wall and go in the little hole in the rod? Just curious.
