Default how does this work out? both cars leave @ same time, one car gets faster time but

crosses the finish line later .

1/8th mile. 2 old high school acquaintances went.

2003 svt cobra left lane 8.6 et.

1993 del sol right lane 8.7 et.

they both left at the exact same time. the del sol had chris by a length maybe more. entire race even passed the finish.

Are you certain that they left at the same time? What was each car's reaction time?

yes, don't know the reaction time, i was in school when they went at it.

on the vid the had, the tree hit green at the same time both lanes.

del sol had the lead. and won by about a car.

Unless it's bracket racing, the tree will always go green in both lanes at the same time. More than likely, the Mustang driver had a slower reaction time than the Del Sol driver.

del sol def. treed him...you can tell by the vid...See the time doesnt start when the light turns green it starts when the car leaves the line.So if the del sol leaves the line first its kind of like him having a head start.Hope that helps.
BTW tell him to get a new clutch

so............ in this case, who won? if they were in the same class/car.

or do you guys just factor out reaction times altogether and only pretty compare the final et's ???????

The winner is whom ever turned on the win light first.

the mustang got launched on by the Del sol... happens often.. people sleeping at the tree. reaction time can determine a win even by a few 10ths.

i have seen a car running 11.4 get beaten by a car running 11.6's because the 11.6 car got a great early launch on the other car. drag racing is more than just 1/4 mile times.. if you leave late you get beaten!

winner is whoever gets to the end first. "whichever car turns the win light on" ..

I have beaten cars that were half a second faster than me because he slept on the tree.

Thier are 2 types of racing. The one we just saw which is heads up, whoever gets thier first is the winner. The second type is a bracket style format, which means you HAVE to hit the tree cause once the light turns GREEN the time is starting wether u move or not. So in this case, he got treed and couldnt catch up to clear him in the top end. You could have a 7 sec car and a 14 sec honda. If the 7 sec car sits thier till u get like 3/4 the way their and then goes and u cross the line before him, U WIN.

I have a video of are car during qualifing for the Fall nationals 07. Ryan left on time, ran a 9.91, Ballard left late but still got there first. He was that much faster.

Like said, theres more to it...

Try and figure out Quick 16 where you can run .5 under in a car that will run 1 second under the dial (or more) and still lose. Ryan beat two guys at Atco last year to win that event.

oooooooooooooo im telling him! j/k

nah he has some stuff in it:

smaller pulley
nitrous oxide dry shot
exhuast (obviously)
that cooling mod thing.
cai
powdercoated stock wheels
painted black brakes

etc thats all i can remember, that he has told me about, oh ya he did something with the diff but i don't remember what it was.

and one of the other kids put 500hp, it's no where near that in my opinion, to my knowledge he has never dyno'd it.

the del sol had a zc dohc, with a turbo kit, utilizing ALOT of ebay parts.

8.6 in the 1/8 with a 500hp mustang?...lol. I ran times near that with a near stock srt-4, and I'm not a good driver.

I would not consider a Cobra to be a Mustang what so ever.

Those 03 Cobra's are potent as hell. 500hp is reasonable, pulley tune and I/H/E those things will do those numbers easy. They are however extremely heavy.

RS-2, think about a drag race this way.

When the green light shines, the race begins. However, sitting at the tree does not affect how long it takes you to go from the start to finish, so the second clock doesn't start ticking until you cross the line.
